This is the best way if you're solo. I had mine on my rack when I did my first long ride and quickly turned it around. Honestly I don't think I've used my rack since...I'm just afraid to part with it as I don't know if I'll ever be able to get another. Wrap one of those cheap gel lubar support things you get for a car seat around your tbag and you'll be comfy as hell all day. I got one at walmart for like 15 bucks.

The gel lumbar support is actually something I would suggest also. On long rides, the tbag sits a little too far back on its own and will have your lower back screaming if you lean back for too long without one.
