I joined the transmission club

So I was out riding yesterday with an old marine corps buddy. We rode about a hundred hard miles around then were heading back to his place to feed his dog. All off a sudden my bike lurched engine quit and a coasted to a stop. I replaced the belt, rebuilt the rear break, adjusted the clutch and nothing.
I pulled the top cover off of the tranny and behold a bunch of metal flakes, broken teeth. Their is so much metal flakes the tranny oil won't drane properly.
I guess I'm going to pull the tranny tomorrow after work and send it to baker.

Then I'm selling the bike. And building the FXR I want

I feel your pain. My tranny is on it's way back from Baker as we speak. Had a problem with it shifting by itself from 4th back into 3rd. No metal flakes, no broke teeth, nothing obvious. Shift forks and fork rod all looked good. Finally, sent it to Baker after a local tranny guy couldn't see anything obvious. My list would be shorter if I listed what Baker said wasn't wrong with it. $1200 worth of screwed up dogs, c-clips, bearings and gears. But, basically have a new tranny now with a 1 year warrenty.

Well I had a broken gear in the transmission. Going to mail it out today for repairs

Mailed it out today, one weird thing to note. Their was not one shim under the transmission! To my untrained eye it looked like it might need some. That might be some of the cause Of the failure.
At least I have a granger rep who visits me 2xs a week so I am going to order some shims , maybe get them for free since I buy so much from him.

bigdogpartskingpin has a roadmax 6 speed listed from an AIH but also states it fits some big dogs. Looks to be right side drive. He's now a vendor for the site. You may want to contact him and see if he has what you need. Here's the listing on Ebay. Just a note: shovelheadkicker and bigdogpartskingpin are one in the same.

I'm going to keep the Dog. She might cost me allot of money but she does return the favor by getting me laid alot.

Going to get an FXR though. I plan on building that one myself with minimalistic everything on it.
Theirs a couple good deals on CL now.
U just have to replenish the fun account in a few months
