I changed my oil on my Mastiff yesterday and was using a piece of card board as a slide to get the oil into the pan. I only use synthetic oil and change it way before it is recommended but, I saw a few little metal fillings on the card board. I could actually pick up a couple and feel them between my fingers. I am starting to wonder whats up. I only have 4600 miles on the motor w/ a 600 cam and ign. I have been using the billet oil filter with the cleanable screen. Has anyone ever noticed fine metal particles while changing their oil? I hope nothing else is going wrong, I don't think I can go through another major problem. :bang:

I'd recommend you pull your oil filter apart for a look. It's not unusual to have a sliver here and a spec there.

Open it up. It is not normal to have metal there. But like vegas said start with the filter.

I wouldnt know I had the dealer do the install. I am assuming they did it correctly, they do them all of the time.

The oil filter looked fine only a small amount of regular stuff. The metal came out after I had removed the filter and oil continued to flow out slowly onto the cardboard.

is it magnetic or not? This would determine if its part of a rotating assembly/bearing or part of the case or cam cover.
