Been wanting to upgrade my stock 03 LED boards to make myself more visible. Contacted Mick (mcgroom) at Too Badd Customs and he got me some new LED boards from Custom Dynamics. These bad boyz are super bright and come with a lifetime warranty. I also ordered new connectors and terminals from Mick for a nice clean install.
I highly recommend Too Badd Customs. Very good purchase experience, great customer service and outstanding communication.
Here are the pics.
Can you tell the difference between stock on the left, and the new LED board on the right? (disregard the box between tire and fender, I chose to loosen the mounting bolts and raise my fender up a little but that step isn't required.)
Here's a close up of the difference between the two LED boards. Obviously, the stock on the RHS.
Hard to see in this pic but the back of the LED board is encased in a thick water proof coating.
Just remove your old LED board.
De-pin the connector that goes to the LED board.
Trim the wires to get them ready for new pins and connector, know's a good time to slide that rubbery thing on your wires that will help environmentally seal your new connector.
Also, crimp on your new male or female terminals and put the correct connector end on it.
Cut off the bulb end that is attached to the lights, it wasn't needed for my application as my bike already had LED boards, the bulb end is for bikes going from a socket bulb to LEDs.
Crimp on your new terminals and put your connector together and here's what you end up with.
Plug everything in and do a fit check. Don't forget dilectric grease. You will also have to trim down the black rubber boot that surrounds the LED board inside the housing. The new boards are a little bigger and don't need as much rubber cushion.
All done. Bike is alot brighter even using the tinted lenses, the new boards have 20 more LED over the stock boards and put out alot of light!
Plan to do the front boards as well as soon as they come in. I have already done the run/turn modification to my front LEDs but I will be adding new boards from the same company purchased thru Too Badd Customs.
