How to track down a car with the VIN

Does anyone know how to track down a car I sold a few years back?? I do have the VIN......Thanks...David

Depends on the state. I assume TX, I might be able to, for sure could if it was in Florida. A current Carfax will show you the last state of registration.

The car is a 80 camaro so its to old for a carfax and the dmv said the last time it was titled was in 02. Which is when I owned it. Dont know where to go from here....

If you have any cop buddies, you may ask them to do a physical vin check or run the vin. I asked them to do it on my bike when i bought it, because the dmv said it had never been registered. He tracked it down to the auction in alabama where it was bought before it came to AR. I dont know if cops are allowed to see outside state lines or what access they have that the dmv doesnt ?!

You can also request a cop to do a physical vin check or vin verification, but in Arkansas it costs $25. He was able to do it right from the squad car in about 5-10 mins.
