How to hide bubling paint?

I read somewhere that one of the members built some stainless rings that are alitlle larger than the paint saver that can hide paint bubles. Anyone know where I can get one for a 08 K9

Hey Curtis I also made my own. Took a piece of polished stainless sheet metal and sandwiched it between some wood and cut the holes with a hole saw. Looks pretty good to. Somewhere there is a picture of it.

As a machinist, I made my first one for my bike out of necessity, because I didn't get my paint saver sealed good when I painted my bike.
The top of the tanks on the choppers are fairly flat, but the K9's are more rounded. I found this out when I made one for Bluedog. So some modifications to the washers I have, may be needed to get it to lay flat on your tank. I made mine out of brass, But I have a stack of 308 Stainless Steel ones all ready polished. They are .100 thick, and I,ve been using a small bead of black silicone, instead of the rubber washer. You may have to take a razor blade to scrap the loose paint from around the fill hole.
I figure $30.00 for my labor and shipping is fair, for the lower 48 states. You can PM me if your interested.

will they fit a 07 Mastiff? and do I have to take off the current paint saver? Or will it fit around it

Mr Wright advised me when my paint bubbled / told me what to make etc. Good guy:2thumbs:.


$30 is more than fair.

P.S. You'll have to remove & re-use the paint saver. The paint saver will hold the washer / ring on.

here is a close up picture.
The dimensions in case anyone want to make their own, 1.770 ID 3.50 OD .100 thick, then I cup it out in the back and form it a bit.

mr. wright, how did you cup the sheet metal out and form the lip? Did you have to make a form and use a press? Thanks Tom

I part them off of excess SS shafting, then I put them back in the lathe and trim ot the back. then I press the drill chuck against it to form it.
I've also laid them on a piece of leather, on the end of a peiece of pipe and smacked them with a rubber mallet.
we're not building rockets here, we're bending a piece of soft medal.

I recieved mine yesterday from Mr. Wright and let me tell you its a kick A$$ product. Looks very nice and has saved me some serious money in a re-paint!!! I told him yesterday he needs to start doing some etching work or some sayings on them !!! IF I COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST PICS I HAVE TWO OF THEM TAKEN WITH MY I PHONE OF THE FINISHED PRODUCT!!!!:angry::bang:
