Still having issues with headlamp not working it will turn over but will not start. My husband has removed the headlamp and checked the plastic socket and wires no melting of the components. He checked the harness around the back of the headlamp and all seemed to be normal. The bulb was replaced as well cause it looked ashy and still will not start. I called Gateway Big Dog in MO they said could be the coil from the spark plug that maybe it shorted out. We will go to HD today and replace it to see if she starts up. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, All the Best

Your bike should start whether the headlamp works or not.

In all truthfulness, given the information available, Gateway Big Dog is talking out their ass!!! Nevermind the fact that coils are almost never a problem, there's numerous things to check out before throwing money at it.

Stick with Curtis and he'll have you cooking in no time!!! :2thumbs:

You would think, but I have the WP installed and when both my high an low beam go out, it will blow the 20 amp fuse and shut the bike down totally. You can pull the headlamp and replace the fuse and it will start right up. but if the fuse is blown it will crank like a mother but will not start. If you don't have the WP, check the circuit breaker and make sure its not tripped. JMO.

I've seen lamps blow out and take out a fuse but only if the standoffs holding the element melt and short together. You learn something new everyday!

I guess I was "assuming" Karen's bike is "stock"...
