How often should you change plugs 2008 pittbull

Hi I've changed plugs on the pittbull last year February when I purchased it and had to do them today as it fired up on 1cylinder the front was hot and back was cold pulled them out they were bit black cleaned them put back in but opposite and still shit:bang::bang::angry: so put new 1s in and she runs sweet az was popping on start up which may have been signs I needed new 1s they are champions can I get better 1s and is this normal for replacement haven't used the bike much in between winter it's parked up on smart charger I'm from nz and run it on 96 octane it's the carb model I was shown to start from cold 2 twists on the throttle pull choke up a little bit turn on ignition hold run for 3secs and start that's how I've been starting it and its been fine choke stays on for 1min then push it in and it idols sweet az till today :loony: anyhow all good now but am interested to know am I starting it properly or is that the cause of spark plugs stuffing out a Harley owner told me don't use the choke that's what can happen so far it's been 19months since I put the first new 1s in :down::roll::up:

try to start without the enrichener. it's actually not a choke, it just dumps extra fuel into the carb so it needs to be pushed in as soon as the motor starts or it is running too rich, therefore the black plugs. what i do is 3 twists-run-start, if it doesn't start then i turn off the key and then do it again and 99% of the time, she's up and running. also, all you need to do is push in the run button, you don't need to hold it in. don't think any harm is done, just that it is not needed.

(note: 2 under normal circumstances, 3 if it has been more than a week. if it tries to hit on the first try, back it down to 2. make sure the petcock is turned on. don't ask me how i know.)

Cool thank you very much I tried exactly what you said this morning and perfect fired up a beauty glad to be on this website as the guy we brought it off told me hold run for 10sec when I read my book we got with it nothing states that lol
