How much travel on front suspension

For the chopper owners, how much travel do you have on your front suspension if you just hold the front brake and pump it up and down?

I had a lot of work done last year on my bike including a top end. While it was in the shop, I had the forks done. One was leaking a little. Now that they are "fixed", BOTH are showing signs of leaking. I don't remember the front forks being this soft either.

Keith, I am only a "Newbie", but i have had a far bit of f..king around with my front end, in fact it is back in the shop now to have new tubes (under waranty) and progressive valves added.
The chrome on one tube had gone to rust and chewed a seal out.

I use about 3-4" of travel with 20 weight oil, this seemed about right for our national goat track (see Hiway). I do believe that under straight heavy breaking the forks would go down alot more, but i hope i never have to find that out.

Keith, it could be that the shop just put in a lighter weight fluid than what was in it before allowing it to compress/travel more. now, as far as the leaks go, make them fix it. they got paid for a job and didn't do it.

Fork oil weight and also fork oil amount will make a difference in travel and the way the forks compress and rebound
