How many Wolfs were built?

Hi Guys,

Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I have seen it said a couple of times that only 151 of these bikes were ever made but that figure seems very low to me. I've just bought one and in just a month of looking I found nine for sale as follows:

In the US: two private, one s/h at a dealer and one new at a dealer.

In Canada: one s/h and one new at a dealer.

In Europe: two s/h and one new all at dealers.

So if they only ever made around 150 then about 7% of them are for sale right now and that seems high to me. Just curious.

Have you done a search on the timing belts on this series? I think some people are having trouble with them.

Yes I am aware of this issue but it seems to be rather the luck of the draw as to whether you're affected by it or not. I do intend to put the Easystart Cams in though and may well change the belt out at the same time, apparently S&S have an updated one available. Thanks for the heads up though.

David, Look at your vin number it will tell you the number that you bike was built. If it is 152 or higher than you may have your answer. Also check the vin of the sale items

How can anyone not love the internet?

I did a quick search and discovered that the letter 'A' in my VIN actually denotes 2010, so my bike was the third one made that year. Here is what I found in case it is of interest to anyone and hasn't been posted here before.

wouldn't surprise me if only 150 wolfs were made....03,04,05,06,07 were their high production years. I'm willing to bet they did somewhere around 50%-60% of their total output in those 5 years. Even though they made bikes for 17 years (1994-2011).

Hmmm, now this is puzzling me, according to the VIN number my bike is a 2010 as denoted by the letter 'A' but the sticker on the frame says it was manufactured in July '09. Could that just be the frame they're talking about?

That's the way it goes with vehicles. Generally if it's a 2010 model year vehicle it will have been manufactured somewhere between late spring/early summer 2009,and spring 2010. Then the 2011's would start coming out in summer 2010.

I think they made 169 of them that what a member here said not too long ago. Of course not many at all anyway. You can count one less though since I got mine stolen and probably now is in pieces somewhere.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Tom, yes I'd forgotten they do that weird model year think in the US, like women's magazines where the July issue comes out in April (cough, so I'm told).

Denny, really sorry to hear that man, that really sucks. Some little prick tried to break into my garage and steal my current bike a while ago, thank god for frame bolts.

I'm a little confused by that chart. Everything in my serial number looks good up to the production number. After the 2W(2=2002, W=Wichita), I have the number 374193. I'm pretty sure mine wasn't the 374,193 Husky made.

I'd say you were tight about that Maverick, I'm pretty sure BD would still be in business if they made that many bikes in a year. Most curious.
