Energy One
Funny this subject come up. My youngest son finally decided he wanted a bike.Wanted a "Sportster 48". Found a used one in Mansfield Ohio dealership. Asked if I would go with him to get it & trailer it back to Wyo. I said hell find me a good used FX & we will just fly back in May & ride them home. Well my oldest son heard us talking about this idea so he gets interested. Calls same dealership & buys a new Fatbob. So here all three of us have paid for bikes & wont see them until May. Ought to be a fantastic trip.
Thats pretty cool :2thumbs:

Not a bike purchase off ebay, yet similar:
When I was looking at sand rails on ebay and other places, forum members offered to go take a look for me before a bid was placed.
Once I won an auction I sent a $1000 deposit, then contacted several "recommended shippers" (lowest was $1800 and 4-6 weeks), grabbed a cert check and some cash, borrowed a flatbed trlr and leaving around midnight friday, drove straight thru to Las Vegas 1100 odd miles, spent about 2 hours going thru this and that, loaded up /fueled up/ got some grub/ checked out prices on air conditioners (home depot was out) and headed home. An hour north of vegas I was too tired to drive anymore, so in 109 degree heat, I slept with all windows down ffor a few, then arrived home late sunday evening. I spent $560 on fuel and some food and gave my bud $100 for the use of his work trailer. Saved over $1100 and the rail was in my garage 3 days after winning the auction.

Use due diligence and enjoy what you bought.
I did a similar purchase without a deposit but rented a trailer and picked up my Viper 2 days later with a certified check in hand to check out the goods before paying. That was one of my most memorable road trips with my wife. Left Saturday at lunch from Pa. and was back from Chicago with the car on Sunday evening. :whoop:

wow....

Man! you guys make me fantasize about about driving out and trailer or ride back home a newly purchased bike. I love this kind of a road trip, gaining a new mistress to ride her home. lol. i just want to put in my part here about this kind of thing. I do hope one day when my son get older and (hope to God he loves bikes like his daddy does) finds a bike out of state and we both drive out and get the bike. my son is almost 4 so yeah i know what you are thinking...gonna be quite a long few years before for that to happen. Hey its ok to dream about it. LOL! :2thumbs::D:2thumbs:

Working on it.

Oh trust me bud! Im working on finding me a Ridgeback right now. Got a big dog buddy helping me out on this since he had a ridgeback before and can help me out making the right deal. Just gotta be patience and my new mistress will pop up somewhere. I just know its really worth the wait baby! Oh Yeah!! LOL.:2thumbs::whoop::2thumbs::whoop::2thumbs:

Not that trusting myself! Becareful who you pick to haul it, I am working on and frieght dock now, a frieght , no matter how it is labeled, depending on who is moving it, gets treated "Rough"! I would ride it home before I let those guys I work with, except a few, even touch it!

I just picked up a new addition to the pound. Bought a 07 KJ-9 off ebay. Nobody won the auction as the reserve was high. Emailed the guy and asked what he would take as I saw all the pictures on ebay. Negotiated a price, rented a trailer drove to North Carolina with a certified bank check. Check it out , got the title, and back to Florida with the dog in one day. It is a great addition to the Wolf. Can't wait after you negotiate the price, have to act with bank check.

That's my dream to add a K9 to my Wolf, unfortunately isn't gonna happen any time soon still very happy though. Good job. Let's us know the riding and style differences of the two bikes.

I bought mine out of Missouri and I live in Texas. I have also bought another motorcycle, a classic car('37 Buick), a Ford pick up, and a 5th wheel toy hauler all sit unseen. All transactions have worked out great.

Flew to Alabama to ck mine out and test ride it...signed the papers and flew home the next day. Had the bike shipped to Texas...Keyboard shipping was who brought it to me, did a great job.

I have an Indian Chief Roadmaster (2009). I ordered it in August of 2008 (1,000.00 down payment) and took ownership in March of 2009. I did see it before financial arrangements were made in the final. I was fortunate that the dealership was in Charlotte. I ordered it from the factory, as they did not have a dealership open at that time. The factory is just outside of Charlotte, NC. The Indian Motorcycle dealership in Charlotte is first class and are doing well.
