brought mine from a bike shop off ebay in florida and i was still in Australia , took 5 months till i saw it , bike had to be broken down in Los Angeles before shipping .....long wait , but worth it

before i bought the bd, i was looking at a harley VROD okay so I had poor taste. I found an incredible deal on "ebay" called and talked to the lady who was "going through a divorce" and was selling everything to cover expenses. She asked that I send a cashiers check to a third party and bike would ship from NY to Hawaii. Long story short if it smells like shit well it's probably shit. I would have been out 6K for sure on this deal.. just my story..

I live in Idaho and I bought mine out of Florida. Never did see her, until she was at my door step. Had her shipped. I got a lot of pictures, and talked on the phone with the guy a few times before sending the money. Of course I got a good feeling about the guy while talking to him. That made a big difference!

I've had 2 Big Dogs and bought them both "sight unseen".

My 2005 Chopper was spotted in Cycle Trader at a dealership (which no longer exists) in WV. I called him, got some e-mail pics, negotiated a price and shipping to my house. Couple very minor issues which occurred in shipping, but these were easily fixed. Great bike...BIG FUN!!

My 2nd (current) 'Dog is a 15th Anniversary K9 which I ordered from my local dealer based upon a flyer Big Dog posted on their website announcing their Anniversary bikes. I negotiated a trade-in on my '05, agreed upon the price/color/etc, then waiting for my K9 to be built...exciting process! When it got here, it was awesome...everything I expected and more! :2thumbs:

So, there's 2 "sight unseen" success stories for you!
Hope this helps! ENJOY!!! :whoop:

Bought mine sight-unseen from a dealership ad in the cycletrader. Oh and I did not even pay close to what the advertised price was. Made an offer and got the deal I wanted. No regrets on my purchase!

I Called the dealer in Ringgold, Ga. and he said he had a Yellow one, only one left and gave me a price. I wired him the money and he shipped it to me. I planned on painting it custom and just wanted a yellow base. When the bike arrived, I changed my mine about painting it. I also bought two cars on Ebay I never saw in person, just good pictures.

Both mine and my wife's dogs were bought off Ebay. We went from south Louisiana to Virginia and Conneticut and picked them up in one trip. They were everything the ad said they were. No surprises!

I had a great lady from this site (BadBrad's wife) test ride mine in New Orleans for me. She gave me a report and I had it shipped. I knew it needed some work but for what I paid I couldn't go wrong. You will most likely have to travel or have one shipped because there not as common as other bikes so finding the one you like nearby is tough.

Bought mine July 4th 09 while in Afghanistan from Florida, had it shipped to S Dakota, saw it Labor day 09 for the first time. Hell I even fronted a friend of mine 10k (08 Custom super glide) because he had never done eBay, hell he doesn't even own a computer and was terrified of getting robbed had it shipped out here from Ohio for 500 bucks. So go for it.

Not a bike purchase off ebay, yet similar:
When I was looking at sand rails on ebay and other places, forum members offered to go take a look for me before a bid was placed.
Once I won an auction I sent a $1000 deposit, then contacted several "recommended shippers" (lowest was $1800 and 4-6 weeks), grabbed a cert check and some cash, borrowed a flatbed trlr and leaving around midnight friday, drove straight thru to Las Vegas 1100 odd miles, spent about 2 hours going thru this and that, loaded up /fueled up/ got some grub/ checked out prices on air conditioners (home depot was out) and headed home. An hour north of vegas I was too tired to drive anymore, so in 109 degree heat, I slept with all windows down ffor a few, then arrived home late sunday evening. I spent $560 on fuel and some food and gave my bud $100 for the use of his work trailer. Saved over $1100 and the rail was in my garage 3 days after winning the auction.

Use due diligence and enjoy what you bought.

I got mine from a dealer down in California. I wasn't worried about getting ripped off, but wasn't sure what I was going to get. Had plenty of pics to look at. Talked to the guy, and got all my questions answered. The dealer was pretty responsive. Had a few hang ups with Oregon laws, but worked it all through.

Couldn't be happier with the purhcase. Shipping was about $500.

Funny this subject come up. My youngest son finally decided he wanted a bike.Wanted a "Sportster 48". Found a used one in Mansfield Ohio dealership. Asked if I would go with him to get it & trailer it back to Wyo. I said hell find me a good used FX & we will just fly back in May & ride them home. Well my oldest son heard us talking about this idea so he gets interested. Calls same dealership & buys a new Fatbob. So here all three of us have paid for bikes & wont see them until May. Ought to be a fantastic trip.

I got my last 2 bikes this way. Bought a harley from a guy in GA had it shipped here to PA.

Just bought my bdm chopper from a guy in NY and he trailered it here.

I bought my bike unseen other than pictures from Tennessee and the dealer delivered it to me in PA. The bike was brand new. If I was to buy a used bike and couldn't get good pictures and information or felt uneasy with the owner, I would want to see it.
