How many Miles for a Pulley

So, i have about 16k on my 08 Mastiff and the dealer has put in a claim to BD to replace the rear pulley and belt based on some wear. All of the teflon is wore off and the wear is taking away aluminum now. I DO NOT ride down dirt or gravel roads nor on beaches... the bike is just under 1 year old.

How many miles should you get out of the pulley before it needs replaced? I know I can't afford to replace a pulley/belt every year, and that's the direction it looks like I'm headed... any input?!

Lots of posts here on this. I had mine replaced at (I don't rightly remember now) but it was probably about 40,000. BDM covered the pulley but not the belt.
I've posted the option of using Supermax here for a permanent fix but it's kind of pricey. A couple members here have all ready done this. Search Supermax.

Thanks Ray.... I'll take a look at the supermax. I just can't believe 16k and it's time!! I'll be putting on at least 1 a year, and that's just not really acceptable. 40k I can deal with, 16k... no way!

Yeah, that's not much. But it might be from a loose or overly tight belt. I know I probably run mine tighter than it should be.
You might like what Supermax has to offer if you can justify the cost. I'm doing it next time as it would be worth it to me.
