How many 05's with non-polished engines?

I just picked up another 2005 Ridgeback with 7,000 miles on it for a price I could not refuse. I was concerned at first because the engine is not polished. The jug fins are but the rest is a semi-polish. I called a local BDM dealer and had them run the VIN# so they could get the engine VIN# from Bid Dog. It matches up. My other 05 ridgeback's drivetrain is all show polish. I though these were the only way they came. One thing I did notice is the build date is at the end of 2004 but it's titled as a 2005 and yes it has the 300 tire and 117 S&S engine.

Are these common?

Thanks.

hmmm...sounds like it just needs some love. They are either wrinkle black, blasted or polished I think. Try a wad of wizzards on a pimp stick (seriously, they're called pimp stix to polish fins) and see what happens!

My 05 Ridgeback is not polished on the bottom end. It was an option to have a fully polished motor, and at the time I couldn't justify the extra cost.

I'll be damned! I thought all were polished starting in 05! I had an 03 that wasn't polished but it was available as an option and then I thought 05 was the year they made all of them polished.

Everyday is a learning day! :D

Nice! It must be the Blasted. I already have some Wizzards. Where can I get a pimp stix? Anyone use a dremel with the buffer attachment and some mother polishing cream to stick between the fins? Here is a pic. I'm also going to need to replace some bolts. Love the ocean but that damn salt fucks thing up!!!

It was standard on the 05 Bulldog, but I can't remember seeing any that were not polished.
Almost everyone upgraded to the fully polished motor anyway - that's why they made it standard across the line the next year.

I did a review on it a while back... on my sportbike site HERE if you sign up over there to view it... put me down as a referal.

But you can buy it directly from them. Tell them Gas Man from TWF sent ya.

Or Alhall might have a set he will sell. I got a set and love them when I do use them.

And I also think it was 2006 when the polishing came standard.

Further, I agree. Get it powdercoated black and then diamond cut the jugs & heads. That would look the best and not cost a whole lot.

When I got my 2005 Ridgeback early 2005 direct from the factory, They told me that the Full Polish was on all of them.

My 2005 chopper was not polished. I understood that the polish motor was an upgrade unless the dealer already ordered it polished.

So Gas, are the Pimp stix worth the $30 bucks?

I think so... I didn't pay anything for my set... but when it comes to cleaning the fins and hard to reach places on the motor... they make things WAY easier.

Tell them Gas Man from TWF sent ya... maybe they'll hook ya up.
