3 yrs ago I went 180 miles when the engine died I switched to reserve. UH OH!!! I had been running on my reserve setting. I pushed the bike about 200 yds when a 90 yr old black man in a 2 ton pulp wood truck fenders just flopping with bungee cords holding them down. He asked if I needed gas and he gave me 3 gal. and wouldn't take a cent. So rule of thumb, #1 make sure fuel cock is in correct spot. #2 always help others when you can, Karma is always watching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God has a place in heaven for that man where he dont have to haul wood pulp anymore,a New Truck and many friends to greet him:D
You are SO Right about karma and the good results that happen ~ especially when you dont expect it.
I always say:throw it out in kindness to others & it will always come back to you when you least expect it:D

Looking forward to retirement
Back in 1998 we went to Sturgis through Kansas and cut through the middle of Nebraska in a RV pulling a trailer. We finally after running on fumes found a gas station and filled up. We also purchased all 7-5gal gas can's he had and filled them up. We were in the middle of no where. Anyway, around 1a.m. we ran across a women in her mid 20's she was the last rider in a group of 15 people and blew her front tire. They never new she was gone. She had been on the side of the road for 3 hrs. We loaded her bike up and took off. Around 3-4am we found a group of 4 riders 2 were out of gas, so we filled them up and took off yet again. We arrived in Rapid City later and dropped the girl off with her bike and she met up with her group. So you do pull over, when you can. A biker on the side of the road is usually a friend for life.

I wish I had more money.
This story is probably why the ol' dude was there to give you some fuel. Great story. I've stop when it's safe to do so.

Ran out of gas on my way to the station before work today. So, I can only conclude that a full tank will last as far as rode, but is short by 1/2 a mile of what it should be. lol

113-115 miles before the low fuel light comes on. I fill up within 5-6 miles of this occurring.

When I used to drive Big Trucks 48 states and Canada, I have pulled over to help out other drivers (bikes, trucks, cars) many times. I sometimes was offered money, NEVER took a dime, I would always leave with; "Pass it forward".

On the highway, I can average 49 MPG. 4.4 gallon tank puts me over 200 miles easily.
Around town bar hopping, I'd guess around 150-175

I have gone to 135 and not hit reserve, thats the way the carb ended up after adjustment before and after emissions and still runs strong as before when I could only make it to 120 before reserve.

You must be hammering the throttle.

I'm getting 38-40 mpg in rural areas around 135-145 miles before low fuel light, avoid the city, 45 + mpg on the open roads 150 + before low fuel light..

I've gone 200 miles on a FULL tank, highway miles, and cruising at no more than 70 MPH.
With mostly highway miles I average 49MPG.

This is a silly poll....the bike will travel as many miles as it can until the fuel runs out. What do I care how far you go. I'm not you riding your bike.

The only issue we all have is filling up before you run out of fuel.

Why don't we have some useful polls? Who puts these polls together? I have some suggestions for useful polls.

You can create a new poll any time you want. If you need help ask. There are many on here. What would you like to start?

Can anyone tell me why my 2004 Mastiff goes about 115 miles then starts cutting out, I switch over to reserve, drive straight to a gas station and it takes about 3.6 gal.??? Should I be hitting the reserve with 1.4 gal in the tank?

Your fuel pick up lines are probably in the front of your tank and when you get low and hammer on it, the wash back takes a while since our tanks don't have baffles or whatever the frick it's called to keep the fuel from sloshing back and forth. Try to fuel up every 100 or so miles.
