I don't know what the pickups look like on these petcocks, but on some its just two tubes for fuel to flow out of. The longer of the two went to the PRI side and the shorter to the RES. If that is the case, you can shorten the RES one a bit for more distance.

Didn't mean to jack the thread...

150 was the most I was willing to try, and it was all highway, mostly downhill. :D

Normally I make a habit of filling it up at 100 miles.

none if you had a mutt, i think because it's the old chopper gas tank and the angles diff. for the reserve :bang:

I ran out 6 times last year from Daytona to Palm Springs and once in Sturgis.

Hoat finally bought me a large aluminum fuel canister while in Sturgis. Still wanting to modify my tank for another gallon of gas.

I'm telling you guys it's all in the petcock. The older dogs had a off.on.reserve. Mine has reserve.off. on The sweep is the key. I agree my 03 chopper and 05 mastiff reserve was a joke! The 06 seems reasonable.

130 on a trip...reserve sucks; 1-2 miles max. Have considered taking a 2 1/2 gallon gas can with me on long trips but there's something unsettling hauling fuel on the back of a dog when flames are shooting out of your pipes :loony:

Does anyone haul a can around on when they take long trips?

Normally I refuel at 120 or so.

I was riding in the 20 and 30 degree range and ran out at 97 miles, so temp might have something to do with it.

I have checked mileage and it varies from as low as 35 to as high as 42. So with that variation, I would not base the time to refuel on simply mileage. Every 100 miles and you should be ok.
