having a problem with my jackshaft bolt not staying in despite using locktight, tightening it as much as possible, and bending the retaining tab on the washer.. the bolts threads are fine, so i figured i need to take the jackshaft off and check out threads on it...or does the bolt just run threw the jackshaft and screw right into the starters armature?
how do you remove a jackshaft

Make sure the retainer still has the tab that mates with the shaft as well as the bolt. If the retainer that mates with the shaft is gone then the bolt can still spin out even though you have the bolt head tab bent up
