Hey guys, just wanting to know what checks, nuts, bolts, and fasteners or rundown checklist to do before a long weekend of riding. Also what tools should I carry in my tool bag. Right now, I just have allen keys in there. I have an Ironhorse LSC. Not a big dog, but mechanical checks should be similar and I know you guys haves tons of knowledge here ! I've read of some simple issues that can leave you stranded, like nuts backing off and whatnot. This is my first long ride and I want it to be a good one. 3 hours each way, with a bunch of ridin in between.

Thanks in advance,

Check your battery cables and any plug in connector, and tire pressure, I have used the black tape out of my kit twice so far, for a quick mirror fix. A few zipties never hurt. Check your fluid levels, and HAUL ASS.:2thumbs:

Also check the baterry cable ground connections and it would be wise to make sure you're gettin 14 volts ao a little better back to the battery when runnin (makes sure your voltage regultor and stator are puttin out like a ho in heat)

Check your heim joints on the shifter as well maybe lube if a bit sticky.

Then, STOP!

I carry zip ties, four way screw driver, common standard wrenches, duct tape, electrical tape, a cheap ohm meter and allen key set. Check fluids, tires, connections, battery.

Please tell me, what is the best lube for a sticky shifter...mine started today.
What do you mean? Is it mechanical? Pull your shift rod and lube the heim joints. Make sure the shift arm on the tranny isnt walking or rubbing against the inner primary

Ride every day to get your bike ready. And then, give it a good once over by cleaning it, then pack. After your first trip, make a list and modify it as needed so almost no thinking is required.

Three hours each way! You must be going to pick up groceries. Sorry, just had to. I just grab the tool roll
Off my streetglide and top off with gas. Enjoy your trip.

A couple of drops of KROIL on the heim joints and the shifter is as smooth as butter...no sticking...I guess dirt got into the joints and caused it to bind up a bit...thanks for your help..
