How do you measure a cam?

Sul you can order the S&S dealer catalog direct from them its only $19.95. All the prices are in there as well but they vare MSRP. As far as the 117 its not a big dog engine only its from the family of the super sidewinder series of the 111,117,124. The engine only stats for the factory 117 are a .600 lift cam, 10:2.1 compression, cylinder dead space .0015,cylinder height,4.886. Big dogs 117 is 9:6.1 compression,cylinder dead space .o445,cylinder height 4.929

Hmmm, Has anyone here changed their own cam?

I'm thinking of doing it myself and, I was looking at the cam in the above picture and I was expecting to find a color coding on the cam gear that determines the cam's gear size.

I'd expect to have to remove the gear on my cam and replace the one on the new cam to match gear sizes.

The service manual talks about making sure the alignment is the same etc but, since I've never held one of these cams, I don't know a damned thing about it yet.

I'm sure some of the smart folks here have done this.
