How close is your Belt?

Just curious how close your belt (bottom) should be to the rear wheel, mine is Damn near touching the tire. Is that Normal? Seems to running fine.

These tires have close tolerances to the belt. Avons are the only tires that do not rub. Metzlers will rub. If you are not having any rubbing issues and the bike tracks true, no worries.

"Airplane" - one of my favorites -

I used a matchbook cover as a gauge (old school harley points gauge). But having said that I did notice the tire was not centered perfectly with the fender, slightly to the right. So I had a spacer cut and off set the wheel 1/8" to the left. Now tire is perfectly centered and no tracking issues.

I've got a 07 K9 and the belt just about touches. Doesn't seem to be a problem as long as it is tracking straight.

Mine was nearly touching, less than 1/32nd. Just changed to a panther belt and it seems to be slightly smaller, thus a little more space. But I can say in 8,000 miles the belt never hit the tire.

I looked into going with Metzlers because of prior experience with them. (I put 15K on a rear on a Road King with a Metzler tire.) However, I measured the width on a Metzler and compared to an Avon and the 300 Metzler is wider than the Avon and with me having only 3/16" from the sidewall to belt now, I suspect the Metzler will definitely rub. There is mention of this in another post in ref to tires on this site.
