How are yall not F'n up your paint with the 2nd seat?

:flag: Im deployed right now but as soon as I get home (MAY) I want to get my K9 repainted...my 2nd seat put small scratches in the rear fender.

What are you guys doing to protect your paint?

That might buff out if they are not deep. 1500 wetsand and compound or a good car detailer can do the job. Thanks for your service. That always happens with the second seats.

Well Ive got to get it painted regardless.....when I PCSd this last time the movers did a good job beatin the shit outta my dog. When I got to the shippers storage, I had to just walk around the parking lot 2-3x when I first saw it.

DEEP DEEP gouge in the front fender, scratches on both sides of tank, and a DEEP gouge in the rear fender.

Was sure hoping yall had some fansy way of saving the paint....my buddy does window tint and he says he can put a clear film on that area but it will be noticable. I keep thinking well so are the scratches, so I dont know which is worse.

I told my girl, she aint gonna be able to ride anymore when I get it painted....she said "Well then dont paint it!" haha I guess that wasnt a option.

Some guys put a 3M type clear adhesive on their fenders, it will definatly help prevent scratches but it will be noticeable when looking closely. I guess pick your posion.

Taking a look at that scratch, thats rough for a pillion pad to do. Make sure you clean the suction cups before it sticking it on there. Also, rub some wax on the fender before you stick it on. That should help a bit too.

I always wipe down the fender with a micro fiber and clean the suction cups. Can't say it completely eliminates scratches, but it sure helps.

My rear tin is at the painters for the same problem you are having. I seldom used my bitch seat. I cleaned the suction cups and the fender before I put it on and it still did it. Buffing and compound wouldn't take it out. Under the solo seat the two large suction cups did an even worse job on the fender. I am also looking to put a film over it after its painted. I wouldn't put anything on the paint until it cures which is about 30 days according to my painter. Also I saw a post on here that the 3M yellows after a year. I don't know how true that is. Anyone here use any protective film with any luck?

3M protection tape works the best. End up with rough spots on the tape but can always replace that easily

Does your guy have a shop or just do side jobs? Any idea what it costs for a straight black....all tins?

also I didnt mention...the shippers also placed a F'n strap over the fender I think....cause your right, the scratches are pretty bad. I seriously wanted to beat them fools!!

I put the 3M protective film on my bike and it has also gotten the haze of friction from the cups under my seat. But I can peel it off and have a virgin paint job any time I want and then replace the film.

I bought the film from Cycle City in Kingsport, Tn., but I have seen it on e-bay.

Keep the suction cups clean and use Mother's Carnuba Cleaner Wax. I've tried other waxes, but the Carnuba is hard enough protect it. I put a quick coat on it every time I ride 2-up while I'm getting the bike ready to go. Only takes a minute. Solid black paint, 3 years old, and no scratches. And if any color is gonna show scratches, black will.

Thers your answer! Remove passenger pegs and sell on eBay with rear seat. Teach her to ride and get her a bike! Dogs do better when they have a another to play with while you're at work!

I put the 3m on 4 years ago and would have to look real close to tell. Have to be carefull when putting it on. Only other alternative I have found would be to completely wrap the entire fender. Have a place locally that said they would do it for $125 if I pulled the fender, but the 3m film works perfect.
