How about a hand scanner BDM for EFI Bikes?

BDM Corporate,
How about a hand held scanner for the EFI bikes so "everyone" can read the codes. Please tell me why this would not be a good idea for the BDM Owner of a 30K bike to know what is triggering a alarm in his scoot. Is sitting in a shop for weeks the real answer to find out why?

I don't have EFI but do standard ODB-II scanners work on the dogs?
The codes on the Harley's are standard ODB-II codes until you start to break them down into sub categories or parts ?

I do not know the answer to it. Perhaps someone can elighten some more detail on that.

great idea. my bike has been in the vet for a month and they still have no idea what the problem is. if i had a scanner i could find out the problem. if it wasn't serious, i could wait until winter to have it fixed.

check with S&S, it's their system. Maybe they have something.

Put their S&S map and S&S software in it and call it their system.
Put BDM software and map in it and call it your system.
How would you recommend to the Big Dog Owner to see why BDM propriety module/ EFI map is tripping the alarm? Sometimes getting it to a Certified/EFI BDM shop can be problematic and more so getting a timely response on why or what the code is.
You hold all the cards on looking into the system for the most part. People can look up the codes with a laptop for themselves.
Can the BDM map be written over with the S&S software maps by a certified VFI tuning center or is the ECU module locked out from them as well and not be modified by a independent shop with S&S software?
I will call S&S to see what they recommend on reading the codes and flashing the module, but I am sure you can tell me.
