Horn doesn't work - Help!!!!

2010pitbull

New Member
I just bought a 2010 Pitbull. Showed up on the truck with horn not working. The shop I took it to yesterday found the horn wire just hanging in front of the battery box (side covers). He wasn;t familiar with the fact that the side cover come off to reveal what is (I read here on the site) the battery and horn reside
within this area on the bike>

Can someone please tell me how to safely remove those side covers, so i can see if I even have a horn in there?

Thanks.......

well, if you have the updated connectors, there will be an aluminum pin that fits into a rubber grommet (there will be 2 on each side cover on the top). the ones on the top under the seat, all you have to do is pull up on the pins to release. sometimes they can be a PITA to pull and you may have to use a pair of vice grips to get hold of the pin. after the pins are out, just gently fiddle with side covers and they will come out.

Removed seat - no horn!!!!

I removed the seat today. I can;t see where there was ever a horn inside
the area where the battery is. Can anyone who owns a 08 - 11 Pitbull tell me where their horn unit is actually located???? How about a photo showing where your horn is??? Anybody know where I can order a factory horn for my bike?

I would suppose it’s behind that side cover on the left side. Remove those side covers and look.

I removed the side covers. On the left side of the battery box is a SQUARE aluminum
thing that is about 1 inch thick that with is filled with some kind of shiny black tar like substance..... IS THAT THE HORN????

No it is not.
My wild guess is it is black and round disk, should be bolted to the battery box. I’m not familiar with Pitbull, but I believe those had a problem with the horn bracket breaking from vibration and horn falling off. You don’t happen to see any extra wires hanging loose anywhere close to the battery box?
Big Dog horn is so stupid sounding, it just makes people laugh if they can hear it over the engine. Would I loose mine, I would not bother to replace it. Heck I don’t even know if mine works, tried it once and felt ashamed.

That is the Ignition Module!!!!

Get an aftermarket loud horn if you need one. Do a search in the sub-forums.... its been discussed before and I remember posting links & pics for it.
