Hooking up LEDs and strobes on a BD

Can hooking up LEDs and stobe lights on a Big Dog cause it to die after it is running and not start back up until 20-60 minutes - I keep the battery on a tender every freakin day and night when not in use

Maybe this is just a coincidence but after I hooked up LEDs and 2 strobe lights, The bike will die when riding and will not start back up. The running lights and speedo will come on but nothing else, no headlight, horn etc. Nothing happens when I click the start button, not even a click!!

The green light on the EHC comes on when this happens

When all is fine there are no lights on the EHC until I push the Run button then the red light comes on

As long as the green light is on the EHC the bike is Useless

Any Ideas??

How are the leds wired to the bike? Are the connected to the ignition or directly to the battery. Directly to the battery is the only way I would do it. What amps are the strobes pulling? I would be very cautious about that.

Just pull the LED connections and see if that works. I doubt they are the issue, but absolutely anything is possible when an EHC is involved.

After talking to Nelson, He told me that you can not hook up any lights at all on the 04 Bulldog. I took off the leds and no more issues.

I can not believe that the LEDs affected the EHC.

Thanks Nelson!!

Disconnect the LED/strobes... if it fixes it... that is the problem and wouldn't be the first time these things have caused problems.

It has to do with the Rf.

Energizer makes a 12volt battery - It is called A23

I hooked the leds and strobes to this little battery and it works great.

Cool way to still have lights on these tempormental Big Dogs

The lights are just as bright as when I had it hooked up to the BD battery.

Hopefully it will last a while. The Battery is only $3.99

I just made a holder for the battery. I will let you know how long the battery last.
