Tonight I was pulling my heads and cam for a change to an S&S 600 cam and deck the cylinders. This afternoon I installed the thunderheart ignition system so all is going well! What little info I got outta Big Dog on what had been done to my motor by previous owner was they installed a Comp Cams 569 cam and new heads under warranty. Couldnt get any other info. I get the cam out and think, damn those are some large ass lobes! Including the base cirle of the cam, the lobes measure 1.374 whereas the 600 S&S measure 1.278. The 600 cam appears to have quite abit more duration ground into it. WTF do I have? I know it is ground by comp cams and numbers on it are 30-4000, UN1832-06, 3001GR and 48318. Looked at Comp Cams website and htey have nothing like it. Has anyone else ever heard of this cam? There are a few websites selling these cams as "30-4000 Big Dog cams". I am calling Comp tomorrow but let me know if u guys know anything! Thanks!!:bang:

subtract the base circle diameter from the total lobe measurement and this will give you a rough idea of the lift. You would need an indicator and v block to check duration.

Comp confirmed to me a couple of years back it was a .569 but would not give me the duration numbers as it was a BD produced proprietary part.

DUDE....Throw that cam in a set of V Blocks, grab a dial indicator and measure your lift.....Then call COMP Cams and give them the grind# off the front of the cam, they will pull up all the cam specs on it for you.......They keep a ARCHIVE full of this stuff....My buddy barry works there...what a fag...such a cool place to work...hahah
