HID?

Would like some input. After being in the shop for about 5 weeks for the wire plus install, and also changed headlight to HID 6,000. I went to pick up my bike about 2 weeks ago, it started right up took it for a test ride, all seemed to be well. Was about up settle up when I went to start it up again, starter was no good.
Left the bike there my shop orders a starter from BDPP, which turns out to be re furbished, Take the bike home all is well, put about 150 miles on it, bike's running good. Went out yesterday, made a stop, again everything seemed to be fine, go back out to start, starters bad again.
Had it towed back to shop, confirmed the starters bad, again, not electrical, plunger's no good, called BDPP, and they will not have any replacements until late March.
That just wouldn't do so I called Boss Hoss in CA. who had a brand new one, but he had a thought that the new HID that I had installed may cause an issue with the starter.
Just doesn't make much sense to me, when the problem now, as like before is the plunger.
Coincidence, just a bad starter from BDPP, or is something eating up my starters?

You say the plunger is no good. What is wrong with it. Is it stuck or is the contact arc over. If it is the contact, may want to try to remove it yourself, clean it up and re-install. Do a search on here and there was some DIY on tips on cleaning that up. You could also consider taken it down to good alternator/starter shop and have them look at it and possibly rebulid for under $100. You would be surprised what old shops can do, may be hard to find one, but they are still around in most places.

On the HID, cannot say, but there has been some issue known when changing over from stock Halogen to HID that are not tru retrofit, and not just with BD. My suggestion would be to take out the kit, put the old style back in, get someone to repair you start and see what happens, before you keep dumping more money into stuff and chasing electrical demons and possibly screw up another starter or something else.

Oh what led to the WP install, was the EHC bad or did you have problem before the change over.

The EHC fried, so when they installed the WP, I figured it would be fine to go HID.
Bike was running fine, went out for a ride, shut bike down, went back out to start it up got that clicking sound from the starter. All the instrumentation lit up so I know the battery is fine, measured the voltage to the starter getting what I need.
Can't figure out how the new HID could eat starter, but it was told to me that it may be an issue, so after they change the starter again, I have a two position ignition switch so I'll start the bike in the ACC position then I'll switch it over to the #2 position which turns the headlight on.

I wouldnt put my vote on the hid kit unless its old technology or bad install with a bare wire somewhere. The WP could also have been a bad install though. Doesnt hurt to put a plain bulb in to eliminate things one by one.
