HID vs LED

Ppl have asked about the led light out. Mine arrived and thought I'd throw a few quick shots of HID vs LED. The LED kit is not the one sold on the forum. Not to bash that kit at all, but this one an all in one unit to fit smaller bucket. Rated at 3000L on high.

HID 6000K

LED Low

LED High

Seems to run cooler. The bucket doesn't get as hot...
Excuse the mess.

seems the HID gives better coverage with a larger broadcast. how is the LED for distance? does it cover more ground the farther out it gets or does it stay tight? need to have shoulder coverage in deer territory, or any wildlife for that matter.

I like the look of the led light better. My only issue is the low beam on the led is on the bottom of the bulb and only illuminates the lower half of the adjure. High beam is great. Both top and bottom lit.

You can rotate the LED in its mount jj.
Turn it counterclockwise about 20 degrees, pull it straight back, rotate it 180 degrees and put it back in. That will put the low beam on the top.

I'll test it out on the road and post back. I think the hids mayyy put out a little more, but the leds are clearer to see if that makes sense. I only with with the led set-up because my hid ballast was mounted to the bottom of my triple tree. Wires looked junky..

Sorry I wont advertise or link another product that steps on the toes of the forum vendors that keep the site going. Just wanted to give ppl an idea of what to expect..

I have found, and I know this is worthless without pics forgive me for being one person and not having enough time to get to it, that the HID is almost as bright as the LED but the LED is a much clearer, cleaner light. The other advantages are you don't have all the extra baggage or heat issues with the LED that you have with the HID and the LED does not have to warm like the HID does.

You found ? But didnt I just say all of that in my posts ? :job: We've been waiting for pics for a month of your LED. Took me 3 minutes ! Come'on Kaptin ! lol

Low

High

Also left the light on for over an hour straight today sitting still. My HID would be hot to the touch. This one is barely warm. So I'm pleased with that. I would not suggest these in a rural area though. I would stick with a low temp HID. I've known too many ppl to get taken out by deer.

Not sure about you but, I like my beam a bit further out! Seems you're lighting more of your front tire rather than the road. JMHO

I like mine lower so I can see road debris and I dont want to blind others driving. I wear the yellow night lenses, that help tremendously with distance. I've actually limped home with no headlight thanks to those and street lights alone.

If i did more rural area driving or worried about deer, then I would aim it higher for longer distance.

I was trying to post pics on this thread but for some reason the site kept making the images jumbo size so I had to start another thread here
