Pro I wonder is your bike an early 06? If so something may have changed later in the model year. That could explain why yours is working fine but others dont. Guess we will need to see what happens as more guys take advantage of the light setup. That damn retaining ring under the trim ring is a pain in the ass to keep taking on and off. Wish I had the tool it may have went easier :2thumbs:

Maybe identify which EHC you have. Square USD plugs or single round serial port plug???

My EHC in my bike is 4 weeks old and it works fine.
The EHC's are all the same. I got that word from Gateway BDM today. Soft tail or Ridged 2005-2008 the EHC's, they say, are all the same.

They agreed,that is the normal BDM tempermental electronics!!

Some of the EHC's are coming with USB ports on them instead of the round serial port plug now. Mine is the new USB plug, it had a round serial port plug on it the last EHC. Like I said, mine is 4 weeks old and direct from BDM and it works fine without the diode.

Jake like I said to you earlier today it will be a case by case basis whether or not he system will work without the diode or it will need it. Tomorrrow I hope to put the light fully back together and ride to see what the HID brings me at night. The damn EHC is uselss once we are out of warranty. WHat do I care about how many minutes or hours I ran at a certain rpm.

NOPE Gas, mine is a USB (New) and Ed's is a USB and he had issues and I don't. I just PM'ed most everyone with issues or no issues to find out what download plugs are on their EHC's and see if anything is in common at all.

The only thing that they will have in common is all of them will have a Junk BDM EHC!!!

Mine is the USB, built 04/06. Technically anything 08/05-08/06 is an 06. This is how car companies do it, not sure if big dog is the same or not. Either way, I'm fully up to date, new flash etc. I think it's just from bike to bike guys. I've been told by each shop I've been to that I seem to have gotten a good dog. It's fast with minimal work, never has any real problems etc. etc. I think you guys just got a bad apple and it's now giving you fits here. There's gotta be a fix though. This thing is kick ass at night, that's for sure!!!

And Gas, no guessing :D :D

My bike has given my no troubles (knocking wood) except for the usual minor BS like a foggy speedo a couple of broken sissy bar bolts etc. All taken care of under warranty without incident. As far as this electrical gremlin goes it seems the light setup will either work or it wont air ride equipped or not. If it works great if not you need the diode. Looks like the diode is the setup jake will have to go with to avoid the issue. It just whether he decides to prewire the harnesses for it or makes it an add on that can be sent if your bike has trouble with the HID bulb not being connected to the high beam switch.

At this point, ALL HID kits will be shipped with the diode installed for all models and years, no matter what EHC you have. It won't matter if you didn't need it, but there if your EHC does need it.

I had a couple HID kit orders here on hold waiting for this fix to be double checked. The orders shipped today with the diode upgrade done.

As for you guys that need the HID updated harness, PM me if you had issues and need it so I have a list. If you have been running the Kit without issues, you won't need the new harness. I'll be getting them all sent out within the next 24-48 hours for those people I know that need them.

Sorry for the issues, and I appreciate you guys being patient and working with me to help get it figured out. Should be smooth sailing from here out!!!

We will never figure out why the setup works with one bike and not another. Took my bike for a 200 mile run the other day into night and the highway signs seem light up from like a 1/2 mi away. My buddies were like what the fuck kind of light is that compared to their stock HD setups.

:2thumbs: There is no comparison to the HID in any brand of "Super White" bulb, PIAA, or even going with a risky 65/100 high wattage bulb that risks burning up an EHC. The HID BLOWS them all out of the water and draws less on the EHC.

I love HID headlight and have been using them for some time. I am glad that I can now offer a HID for our bikes. You do not know how long I had been waiting to be able to put these together. I am going to try to put together some more video footage of the headlight in action so guys can see how much better they are over the stock light.
