HID Question

I installed the 6000 HID from Low Down and did the burn in as suggested. I had a few things to do so put the charger on since the battery is questionable. Came back at night fall to see this great white light and i got all the light flashing when i turn on the key. Disconnected the battery then tried again. Same thing. Then the HID flickered on and went back to normal but. Turned the key off and on then same thing - just flickering - all the light were flickering. Is it the battery?

Took out the HID and installed the factory bulb and all is back to normal. I'll call Jake in the morning.

Mine did the same thing so I pulled mine too, installed it a few days ago. My battery is fine, hasn't been on a tender in 5 days and starts up without a hitch,

I may dig into it later this week but the weather is far to perfect to waste screwing around and not riding.

When I installed the HID it worked fine, but then my EHC locked up every few days. If I put my old bulb back in, it was fine. Jake sent me an extra part to install free of charge that should more duplicate the resistance/load of the of the factory light. Since the EHC is so sensitive, the HID may be screwing it up. Although that didn't work either. Instead of returning the HID, I just bought the wire plus...problem solved. Didn't have anything to do with a low battery. The HID consumes less power anyway and the EHC thinks the light bulb is burnt out and switches to the bright (safety feature).

The battery was weak and already had a Braille on its way but it was on the charger for 6 hrs. Its not so weak that it wont work properly so in this case its not the initial problem. It is something to do with the HID. Maybe I have one of the few Dogs that it wont work in. Maybe there is something not quite right inside the ballast. Don't know - I'll probably do a wire plus next off season but until then i need a brighter light so I e-mailed Lena about a bulb.

I am having similar problems with my HID kit. The battery is brand new but here are the issues I am having:

1. When I turn the key on, the lights will flash for a few seconds before finally completing the startup cycle where I can actually start the bike
2. Most of the time I have to actually start the bike TWICE to get it to stay running. It will crank, run for a second, and shut back off. If I start it again, it is fine
3. Twice the EHC has “locked up” and the lights, odometer, etc stay lit up even AFTER I take out the key! Had to disconnect the battery to get it to reset. Luckily, I was in the garage when this happened.

I haven’t contacted Low Down about the resistor mod because I wasn’t sure if it would fix these problems. I love the color and the brightness but I am tempted to switch to a silverstar just to eliminate the glitches.
