Hi temp paint

Energy One
Has anyone ever sprayed Hi temp paint on there pipes?
From a can.
I have a little project going and it would look better with just about 5 inches of the pipes flat black. I was thinking tape but it would be a tight fit.
Seems weird I know.

I have used the VHT brand Hi-temp paint. Supposed to be good to 1300 Deg. The key to it lasting is in the prep of the surface. The pipes I used it on I sandblasted first then used a wax and grease remover type solvent. The flat black seems to work the best of any of the colors. Follow the can directions on how many coats and the flash time between coats. Good Luck ! :2thumbs:

I used hi temp black grill paint on my Harley, I liked how it came out and it lasted. I had my pipes painted almost a year before trading up to the K-9 and they looked great still.

A good outdoor paint applied with a high quality brush, I hate when them hairs fall off and screw up a nice paint job. :loony:

I always use the hi-temp black -- but only on the inside of the pipe to get an even look.

I found that the high temp ceramic paint works really good on just about everything. I get it at pep boys in the orange can and it says 1200 degrees.

Also used the ceramic sealer paint used on header wrap. That stuff looks good and wears well also.

Depends on what the current finish is on the project. If it's chrome, it's going to take some additional work if you want it to look good. There is some prep stuff that comes in a spray you can use, I think it's called bulldog or something. Someone here has used it and mentioned it before.

Hope this info helps.
