Hi....I need a little help as I have said be i took my dog all the way down to the frame for new powder coat and new paint. I also put the electronik EHC in it and a Dyna 2000i ignition module and set timing as said in the paperwork that came with the module but now I have a high speed miss that only happens when throttling up at 60 or higher a friend told me to take it and have the timing set with a light. But I have read here were it might be the plug wires or the coil. Is there any way to tell what the problem is with out spending money on plug wires or the coil.

Well when I throttle up at about 60 it sounds like a hiss it does it a couple times then you can feel the motor gain the momentum the bike runs better than it ever has except for the miss.

The first time I hear it I thought it was my compression release but that shouldn't happen at when throttling up should it

If you are getting a hiss, you may have a vacuum leak somewhere. If you have those rubber caps on any of your carb fittings, make sure they aren't cracked or missing. While the bike is idling, spray wd40 around where the intake manifold bolts to the heads. If the idle changes, you have a leak. Also, did you remove the auxiliary vent plug from the carb when you installed that spike air cleaner?

Also, what engine? 107 or 117? Some late 04's got the new 117. It has a different breather system that might cause a hiss if something isn't hooked up correctly.

The rubber caps are on and not cracked the idle doesn't change when spraying wd40 around the intake. It a 107 the filter is setup right. It only happens when throttling up at 60 or above

The ac may be set up right, but the auxiliary vent plug needs to be removed from the carburetor when using an after market ac. Did you check that? This will cause a miss if it isn't removed.

I put that filter on 4 years ago everything is correct with it. the miss I have only started after I put everything back together with the new computer and ignition going to order the new plug wires and coil tomorrow and see if that takes care of it

Wires , plugs or coil could definitely cause a misfire at high RPM. The hissing sound is a mystery though. I had a noise one time kind of like a hiss when I first started my bike and then I realized my enrichener was up just a little. Pushed it down and problem solved.
It could be what is sometimes referred to as a cough or a sneeze. Possibly since you replaced the EHC and Ignition the bike needs the carburetor readjusted or re-jetted as a couple of guys suggested. Takes a little time but no cost unless you decide you need jets.

I found that my back plug wires has gotten hot so I will start there and going to get the carb. Rebuild kit hasn't been rebuilt sense I bought the bike. I want to thank everyone for there input on this it really has helped I been using big dog biker from when I first bought the bike and can always find new information here that helps with just about anything on a dog
