premature wear, and gasket failure, can have two completely unrelated causes.

Premature wear is not caused due to sitting, or not running, but a gasket can get dry and brittle and fail.

Piston, valve, valve guide, failure is either due to poor lubrication, extreme heat, abuse, or one of those rare production defects.

If you're going in...do everything. Good luck.

Rub ,,, that what I put in my diesel truck. I have used it in over vechicles, never had any issues, but never thought about using it in the scooter.I have been using Rev Tec, that is what they recominded to me after I got it at he dealership.

up date on heads, they now have decided that guides are still good, but the valves need to be replaced, so i am changing the springs too. The heads are being cut .047 to raise compression. I am going to try the 600 cam since dicussions on this forum, I have decided that getting all the componets to work together requires not only the right parts, but a magican too

It will be a week or so before it's put back together, I will give a report when it's done

Hi Steven,
Sorry to hear about the issues with your bike. Sounds like you are on the right track to getting it back up and running. All the best.:2thumbs:

it worked well, the bike has around 25,000 miles no issues with the motor at all since the rebuild.

The only bad news is I don't get to ride it much anymore, I had to move to Singapore for work. Singapore won't allow the bike there. My best friend has it now, every time I come back home he gives it back while I'm there, can't ask for a better friend.
