I have a 2008 big dog and it seems like the left fork tube is backing out from the top tree has any one had this problem and if so what is my fix

Your pinch screws are likely loose.
You need to loosen them reset the fork tube and then torque them back down.
DO you have a service manual?

Thanks for the info. I don't have a service manual.
Should the bike be raised with no weight on it or can it be done on the ground?
Also, is the top of the fork tube threaded or does it just slide in?

Do I need to loosen the bolt on the top of the triple tree?

Yes the bike should be in the air (Weight off the forks)
Top is not threaded (The outside isnt) But the inside is thats where the top Screw on your triple trees screw into if its like my 04

There are 4 screws if you look by your triple trees and then on top of your triple trees there is a screw for each fork

There is a great how to on servicing forks here
