HELP!!!!!!!

SUPERMAN

Go BIG... or Go Home!!!
Im in need of some opinions and some help. Not trying to ramble on and on but this is the story... My 2004 big dog chopper would not start several weeks ago just spin over no fire. Took it to my local shop, first time ever going there and they said it was the computer. I told them about the wires plus wich they had never heard of. So I came home and with this helpful site found them all the information on the wires plus module and the install. They called Don at wires plus and got set up to buy them cause they seen that if they gonna work on big dogs you gonna need them. After waiting for the last 6 weeks to get my bike back I picked it up yesterday and rode it home. Got home my gas tank was loose, while tightnen the tank bump the gas line and noticed gas running out. You guessed it no clamp on the fuel line! Fixed that and proceeded to go off for a ride with a buddy. Bike ran great till later on that night got on the bike pretty hard from a rolling start and it felt like the rear fender scrubbed and all at once the bike died. So after spending $877.50 for labor to install wires plus (wich looks like shit to me) and fix rear fender harness im still no better than before. Will drive where ever to get the bike fixed and running like its supposed to just dont know where to go! Please I need all the HELP I can get!!!! Thanks Jessie

It does'nt look to have rubbed the harness under fender. It just will not do anything with the key on the left and right turn indicators or on dim. But will not crank doesnt even click. There are two red lights that are lit up on the module??? I just dont know where to start checking, dont know alot about wiring and stuff. Thats why I took it somewhere thinking I was doing the right thing and look where it got me. My number is (803) 507-2536 if anyone is willing to communicate on the phone to try to help me figure this out. Thanks, Jessie

You should have 2 inline fuses that were installed with your Wire Plus unit. Check these to make sure they are still good. If either of them is blown, then you probably did have your fender rub a wire and short something out. You may need to pull the fender up so you can do a good inspection on it. It's also possible that your battery just took a shit on you. If the fuses are good, take your battery to have it load tested at any car parts store. It's free! Don't skimp on batteries. There's a lot of info on different batteries on this site. A lot of folks prefer the Braille. Just get one with plenty of power to turn your motor over. Minimum 270 CCA, Preferably one with 310 + CCA. I'm betting that it's your battery.

. I've

Thanks fellas! I've put my info in on jakes website but have'nt gotten a responce back yet. In the mean time I've spoken with Don at wire plus and he has turned me on to a gentleman name Steve at Biker Dreams in Atlanta. I've spoken with him and was told to bring it to him and he could straighten out my problem. I guess I will be headed to Atl. tommorow. Will be glad to take the trip if it means getting the bike back going and it be right!!! Thanks, Jessie

Well, one things for sure. I'm sure Steve has heard of Wire Plus!!! I think he uses hose clamps on fuel lines too. I get all my parts from Steve. He knows Big Dogs. Good choice, but still think it's your battery. Be sure to update this thread when Steve gets you fixed up. Good luck.

a question, not trying to be a smartass, honest.:)rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:) if you had to be the one to tell the shop about wire-plus and you had to look up all the information for them and take it to them, what on God's green earth made you think they knew their ass from a hole in the ground about installing the damn thing in the first place? RUN FOREST, RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bang::bang::bang::cheers::cheers:

agreed about taking it to steve. :2thumbs:

I think Steve will be your best bet if you don't know wiring. The bonus is that Steve/Bikers Dream is a member here and a supporting business. I'd recommend next time to contact ours business' here first. I bet the wire plus kit would have been cheaper through Jake/low down chop shop (another supporting business here).

Live and learn. Steve will get you back on the road.
