well here goes,Hello I have a 2003 big dog chopper s&s 103 motor. Over the past 6 month I been having a problem with the bike just cutting off at various speeds , even at 60 mph. it sometimes cuts off an I am able to catch it in gear within seconds of it cutting off . Other times I have to stop an hit the start switch and it starts right up. This happen without any hesitation, surges, it just simply stops running. It could be once in an hour ride or three to four times, sometimes not at all that day. I have cleaned the carb very carefully and see no problems inside, and once put back together same results. Is there something I am missing, or should I look else where?

Have you gone through your wiring thoroughly
If you have then I would be highly suspect of the Ignition Switch.

I had a similar problem. Finally noticed that as the bike was dying I still had turn signals etc. Wound up that the needle on the float in the carb would stick... sometimes.
Replaced the needle and the seat and all is OK.

This is going to sound dumb, but I ran into to this years ago. The plastic box that the EHC sits in, take a big zip tie and but it around that box, so it will support the EHC. We were on a rode trip down south some where, and the bike kept dying. We stopped at a Bid Dog dealership, and they put that zip tie on there and it fixed the problem, and it's still on there.
won't believe it but i hav a stereo system on the bike , ipod, amp and two small speakers that sit on the handlebars, with a switch under the seat, after moving some wires around it shut down, disconnected it, rode for a good hr no problem, i think this may be it but a miss the tunes , thanks for the help

If you moved some wires and the problem seems to have been fixed, check the wires for chaffing. You may have a wire that has the insulation worn off and you moved the wire from the place that it is shorting out on. The problem may come back as the bike is run and the wires settle back to the place that the short is.
