well....05 pitbull was having issues with the start button not always wanting to fire, so I replaced the hand control board,(which was hard to acquire) still have same issue. You can hit the start, sometimes nothing, sometimes it will turn. ANY ideas as to what to check, starter? Connections? they seem OK. I thought about a starter button on side of starter (slam start) I think. Any help appreciated.

Check the contacts on the starter solenoid. You don't have to remove starter just remove the plate where you would install the Slam button. Make sure they are not all worn out or loose. Slam button is not a bad idea, I have one just in case. You may want to give Curtis a call at Wild Steed Worx & Services, When the road is your trail
he can rebuild your starter or sell you a slam button or a solenoid kit. :2thumbs:

Thanks for the info Little Boo. I actually bought a button a year ago, just never got around to it. I guess now is a good time to check stuff like you said, Thanks.

Hows your battery? sometimes after sitting for a couple days I go to start it and while holding the start button is does nothing for a second or two before it will try to start, its like the battery is building up to turn it over. My battery is 3-4 yrs old thought, I'm just trying to squeeze a little more out of it. Once the bike has run for 30-45 minutes it starts fine.

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
My K9 started some of that and I found it was one pin in the little white connector in the housing under the button. The pin had retracted a bit and was not making a good connection. Just pulled it out and re-connect...that was about 4 to 6 weeks ago, and so far so good. Pretty sure that was the problem..
I had worked on it previously and between poor vision and paddle hands, I jammed that end pin.
