Ok guys I'm a newbie when it comes to big dogs as I just bought my 01 boxer 3 days ago..and I am having some problems...
Here is what is going on.. when i picked it up guy had it on a batt charger and said it was dead from sitting..which batt was dated 11-11-99. but anyhow got a charge on it which allowed me to ride for a day or so ..bike performed great..then on a long ride on the hwy about 60 cruising the bike started to miss fire and lose power like it was out of gas..so i pull over and it dies ..go to restart it and barely turns over then get the click...so i get it towed back home and ordered an odyssey batt thinking that would solve the problem..
I got the batt in today ..attempted to crank and still barely turns over and clicks ... noticed the ground cables are getting hot too so i stopped with the cranking attempts... checked all grounds and everything seems good..
i tested the Voltage regulator also and determined it was bad ...got 12 volts on the leads going to the stator while key off so i guess the diodes are bad..
now i am just wondering if the starter is bad too or if the VR plays into the prob? what do you guys think?
