Help with neutral

Good tip on finding neutral

I thought I was having some transmission issues after having the clutch adjusted for not being able to find neutral. While doing a search and enjoying a cold one I came across this post, and it worked great. No more problems finding neutral, and the dog is even more pleasure to ride now.:2thumbs:

Guess I will have to find another way to spend my money (perhaps some pipes).

I think it's all in the clutch adjustment.
I have followed the guide for clutch adjustment on this site and it helped but
I took my scoot into the dealer last week and they adjusted it a lot different than its been adjusted before and now it goes into N anytime anywhere easy.

To explain the difference it's all in the free play.
Before the last adjustment the clutch would engage quickly after only letting out
the lever a little.
Now you have to let the clutch out probably half way before it engages

My tranny shifted smoothly before I had the 500 mile service. After that, the same complaint as everyone else.
Yep, same here. Worked fine before the 500 mile service, but ever since, it needs an rpm boost to find neutral.

Someone should inform BDM to give their techs better specs on the clutch adjustment.

It says right in my manual "these transmissions are built to very close tolerences and neutral is extremely hard to find with the engine running".....I called Bull shit with that and tried everything throttle..clutch adjustment....rocking..rolling.. just about everything and i still can't get that "close tolerence" son of bitch in neutral. Got a little over 15000 on it and mostly in town riding so you can imagine how many stoplights. On second thought....now the strength in my left hand matches that of my right......I'm right handed, ha ha

I agree - thats total bollocks - since I put the Bandit in finding neutral is very easy with the engine running, bike stationary and no blip on the throttle. It's not the transmissions fault its the clutch. Properly adjusted my opinion is you should be able to find neutral without a problem.

Gotta agree with Lee. ONCE, since I've owned her, it got a little finicky to find neutral. I adjusted the clutch per the "how to" and she slips into neutral anytime, anywhere, under any condition(hot, cold, uphill, downhill, stopped, moving, etc) Never had to rev it. I say adjust your clutch rod, then your lever.
