Help with neutral

I just picked up a new (to me) Husky last night. I just put pics up in general discussion.
Im having problems shifting into neutral while the bike is running. Shifts fine when not running, but while shifting from first to second I cant get it to stop, very touchy. I was able to hit neutral once or twice but not always. Anyone else have this prob? I was wondering if its an adjustment that needs to be made or if its really just that touchy. Any help would be great. thanks

Congrats on the new ride !

I have found that if you add about 500 rpms (don't overdo it), it makes it easier to find neutral coming up from first.

Hope this helps.

If you want to hit neutral without killing the engine first, it helps if the bike is still moving. When I'm pulling in my garage I just slip it into neutral while it's still rolling...no problems. Once your completely stopped its more difficult and completely normal.

Try adjusting the clutch a little, that solved the issue when I was having problems finding neutral

I just got my dog the other day and have noticed the exact same thing. It does seem easier to hit it while the bike is rolling. From a stand still it takes me a few tries sometimes.

I'll try out adding rpms tomorrow and see if that helps too. Great tip.

The RPM trick is the easiest. You can also try the gentle roll will also work but that gets old.

Floating up the RPM's is the trick - I also find it easier to find neutral starting from 2nd gear - probably because you have more control pressing down than lifting your toe. It's also something that you get a better feel for with a little experience.

Welcome, definately bring the revs up when trying to get into neutral. Alot of people have the same problem when they get their dogs and think something is wrong with the tranny.

I've been paying attention to my K-9 and I haven't had a problem yet. I just hope the dealer doesn't change that when I take it in for the 500 mile service.

It could happen, Tim - they seem inclined to readjust almost everything at the first or second service intervals. You might stress with the shop that it's right on, and does not need to be "fixed."

Noticed it doesn't find neutral very easy when the bike is warm/hot. I had to do the RPM trick too.

I've got 3800 miles on my K9 and still have problems getting it to shift into neutral. Like everyone else says. you have to rev it up a bit. When i'm driving, i get it into neutral while i'm still rolling. If you are at home and can't get it into neutral, i just shut it down and then engage it. I noticed it got a bit better after i changed to the Redline oil.
