Help With Coil/Starter Shorting Out

Energy One

I just got a new coil and starter setup today. It worked fine before. I replaced it because it was a little rusty. When I installed it and mounted it back onto the bracket that attaches to the frame & motor, it shorts out. I hear a click, then another click to reset something. It works fine when I take it off the mount and hold it in my hand and turn the key (lights turn on and it starts up). its just when it touches the frame mount it shorts or something. Is this a grounding issue? Please Help.

Can't really see anything by the pics but from what youre describing it does sound like a short. If it will run with the coil/switch assebly in your hand. Take a meter and and touch it to the coil mount on the bike and the other probe to the coil bracket. If you show voltage ya got a short somewhere. Would be good for a extra set of hands for this.

Got it

I mounted a wire to the coil that was touching part of the mounting bracket...thus the short. Thanks
