OK, I've been shopping around for a replacement to my Big Dog K9 that caught fire last year:angry: Right now I'm looking at these four bikes and would love some feedback from the membership here. This is a tuff one for me to pick and hoping to get your help. I really rather get the 2009 Wolf that Cycle City has in New York but the asking price of 33K is too much for me to handle right now. So these are the last group I'm looking at right now. When you pick one please keep in mind the dealer who's selling the bike also, cause the bike has to make it to New York and run also. And here they are

1) Used 2007 K9 with any and everything on it from Fury, asking 24K. Questionable mileage in my opinion, but appears to be great dealership from what I could find. Justin is on the money.

2) Really hot New 2008 Rigdeback from Super Street with really hot paint job, asking 24, from what I was able to find questionable dealership service department. Talked to William the owner, he's a funny guy:lol:

3) New 2008 Ridgeback from Las Lunas, 20K for this one. OK paint job but couldn't find anything bad or good on this dealer.

4) Used 2008 Rigdeback from Dream Machine with 2557 miles on it, asking 18K, could find anything good or bad on this dealership

OK Boys and Girls, please pick one and help me out here.

If you pick a certain Bike because of the dealer selling it please explain.

THANKS

As much as i love that 330 ridgeback, I would still pick the K9 because of the suspension. The ghost flamed ridgeback is a really really close second. That's if money wasnt an issue.

When I had my K9 I was fine with the power it had, but the person who had this one put a lot of work into it that I wouldn't had done. The look of the bike if FINE, but just kind of un-easy about all the engine work that was done to it.

Performance upgrades:
bored .20 over (roughly 119-120ci) ($250)
625 Wild Things cam ($269)
ported/polished heads ($1200)
performance valve job ($899 labor/$400+ parts)
S&S pistons ($240)
Twin Tech ignition/bypassed computer/chrome cam cover ($930)
Shortened cylinders to raise compression (10.3:1) ($390)
Mikuni 48mm carb (slide carb) ($1000+)
high flow intake manifold
heavy clutch spring
13 plate clutch
super trapp exhaust (mean mothers)

You already had a K9 and you need a change....go with the Ridgeback for 18K .... The 24K is a little pricey in this economy (just my opinion).
Are you okay with riding a rigid ? you got good roads out where you live ?

Thanks, I kind of have the same feeling about getting another K9 too. Been there done that. That why I was looking for a Wolf but can't bring myself to do 33K plus taxes. But the Ridgeback from Las Lunas is in a sweet spot for a new bike, and the paint job is OK, just can't find anything on this dealership.

I bought my mastiff from Las Cruces Motor Sports its the same owners as the one in Las Lunas and they also have the dealership in Santa Teresa NM. They worked with me great as far as price but the service was not that great. When Big Dog was still operating my gas tank cracked I took it in so they could remove it and send it to get fixed after a week I called to check up on the tank and they told me it was not even removed yet that the BDM mechanic had been off. They took for ever to get this taken care of this. Them being slow caused me to miss the Aspen Cade Bike Run in Ruidoso, NM. They said i would get the bike with plenty of time to make the run, i was not happy with their service. I talked to one of the main guys that oversees all three dealerships and he was supposed to call me back and get me some special deals on maintenance or somehow try and help correct their screw up and he never followed through. I even called once and left a message for him. But you shouldn’t be dealing with service cus you’re so far away maybe they can give you a better price on the bike. I know I got a great deal. Good Luck

I would keep looking.......I like the k-9 but 24k for a used bke. Really dont care what it has thats overpriced. You can find that elsewhere for 16 or so and you can add a few thousand to make it your own. Ridgebacks are cool, but again you can find that year with low miles for around 16. Just my .02. Good luck

That did come to mind but my thinking was that if I buy in the Winter the prices would be cheaper.

New York roads can not be much better then those in New Jersey. And all of the motor work on the K9 makes me wonder about how long the motor will last and how it has been treated. IMO none of the above. Keep looking.

Oh yeah he's a barrel of laughs especially when you are trying to reach him for some follow up to poor service his shop provided. He's a total dick in my book, I wouldn't buy a bottle of water from him if my ass was on fire.

Go with the K-9. The rigids look sweet, but you'll feel every pavement imperfection in your spine and kidneys! I would keep looking, I've seen multiple K-9's and Ridgeback's listed in the neighborhood of 15k over the past 6 months or so.

On looks alone the K9, but agreed with those engine mods and no clue who did the work or how much he beat it  24k WAYYY to much!

The 08 Ridgeback is just my style :D fat Rear tire/straight black! Nobody has touched that yet except for the exhaust! Hell still has the reflectors! Thats the one that you want! IMO. Although you live in the North the roads are shitty and the rigid will rattle your fillings right outta your mouth! I got the 250 rear I assume the 330 rides a bit smoother but when the roads rough, ITS ROUGH!!!

Keep looking find a Chopper you get the look but with a suspension.

Whats the Rake on a K9? I always thought it was similar to the Rigid but by the looks of that pic its not?

From what I am seeing they are all high on price. Justin at Fury is good shit. I would ask him where the bike came from. I think Fury is just "flipping" these bikes but they will stand behind it. 24k though? Buy one for 16k and do your own mods. I think the Ridgebacks get a raw deal on this site. I ride all day on mine and once in a while I may hit a good one but the look of the rear fender right on top of that fat tire can't be beat. Besides, if you're worried that much about comfort buy a Goldwing. Good luck on your quest!

:lol:I have a 2008 Goldwing already:lol:

I like the one from Super Street, but need him to move a little more off that 24k price.
