I’m having same issue on my 05 mastiff with carb. Do I have a cam sensor? Or is it a crank sensor? My ignition module is not in the nose cone.
Try starying a new thread that details the issue you have. On an 05 you will have a crank sensor.

Crank sensor is all about tone wheel sweep at the crank.

Cam sensor is at the cam... Note single tone wheel arm.

Where 11 is a trigger rotor, and 8 is the generic sensor, it is called the ignition system even though the generic sensor is used to make a wave the black box can recognize as an input signal like any other sensor.

Cam sensor is not this type bike as per cam position so the nomenclature is sort of wrong.
Crank sensor has to have the [crank] cutouts to be called a crank sensor.
Ignition pickup is just that. It uses a rotating gear and just so happens to be off a single cam. Sportster with a 4 cam design still uses a shaft off a cam, but it is not called a cam sensor per say, but an ignition system.

At least that's how I recognize parts used in said applications.
