Hello everyone
My Mastiff 2006 is equipped with a Karata Intimador 4’’ open belt primary. 2 months ago, when I bought the bike, the belt ran centered on both pulleys. After about 3 weeks, the belt drive started to emit a tickling sound which depends on the rpm. Pulling the clutch the sound disappears immediately. The belt now is running on the outer edge of the pulleys, secured only by the lateral cover. I took off the lateral cover, removed the belt to check it for damage. But nothing, no damage on the belt or on the dents of the pulleys. I blew out the clutch thinking that there might be an imbalance due to accumulated dust. No change. If the mileage on the odometer is correct, the bike has less than 7k miles on it’s back. I don’t know when the Karata drive was installed, but even with 7000 miles the clutch still should be fine.
Now I don’t know how to continue. Obviously the belt is still the first one. Did it become too old? Do I have to change it? Or one of the bearings is worn out?
Any hint is appreciated!
Best regards, Manfred
