HELP!! EFI malfunction light

When I was in Myrtle Beach, I had a problem with the bike. The efi light was coming on. Sometimes it would blink on and off, sometimes it would stay on. When the bike started to hesitate, I took it to Jason. He changed the throttlebody and later changed the O2 sensors. I rode the next day with no light. Then on Sunday when I went riding I would get the light intermittently. When I got back from the beach the bike went to the dealership. Now it is three weeks later and they have no idea why the light is coming on. Does anybody have any ideas? I am tired of them having the bike and not getting any riding time.

I can remember mine having bad rear sites errors. If I remember correctly, it is when the mapping cells go outside the base map for whatever imitating circumstances.. Stock bike no mods except maybe the baffles opened up. Jason ended up having the bike taken to the shitty side of the rainbow where they could kick it over and probe it with no one watching. Said the endo factor was a cut plug wire but replaced the ehc among other items. Throttle bodies have been know to have undersized shafts in them and a intake leak also will play havoc but can be detected through software readings. O2 sensor will cause these issues as well.
Sometimes it can be as easy as reteaching the base map to what it has learned so it can go from there.
What dealership is it at? Where are you at?

Big Dog needs to put a script on the home site and provide EFI owners with a communication cable that they can hook into the ECU and to a laptop and open up BDM site and let it tell them the alarm that is being generated and if it is a nuisance alarm or serious problem.

Most can download the S&S software from the S&S site and look for themselves if they have a little computer savvy. I ought to make the cables for them and send it to those that want them. Maybe I need to just make a care package for all the EFI owners with software and interface cable so they can look up their own alarms and call BDM and tell them what is going on.

Without knowing what is setting the engine light baddog64, it is hard to say what to do. If you know he alarm which instruction are already written on this site on how to access your module and where to download the software from, you are at their mercy.
Sulconst2 has posted a awesome troubleshooting guide if you know the alarm. download this and keep it.

I hope we can be of assistance here on the forum, but Jason and Dogvet are the experts here. Perhaps thet need to be more open to what is ailing these EFI bikes seeing how they are having to troubleshoot them all. Honestly gets you everywhere in customer service.

I'm having the same problem...First had it with the Big Radius 2-1's that I had installed when I bought it. Now I'm having it with the Paul Yaffe's (o2 bungs installed) that I had put on a couple of months ago. Wichita's telling me it's because I put these pipes on, but I was having the problem before. I've moved to VA, and there's not a service center anywhere close. The bike's running great with the new pipes, but I keep getting an EFI light. Any suggestions?

Do you have a cable to hook up to the ECU? I guess I need to ask on the 08 bikes, is it still a serial or 9 pin connector?
To answer your question, you need to see the alarm history code and see what set the alarm. You can do that with a cable and a free download from S&S. It is a read only so you can only see what is happening with your bike. BDM needs to install a script like I said above so everyone can read there codes.
I would guess your map is going outside the allowable learning parameters with the pipes you put on. BDM can tweak your map if they feel up to it or tell it to write what it has learned as the base map.
Ride it until you are tired of not being able to read your codes or do anything without them holding your hand and THEN put in a self tuning wide band system and be done with the issues. A Thundermax EFI auto tune system is the shit...Put whatever you want on it and it will learn and you will have full support on your map....

Thanks Neil. I'll have to look at the system and see what kind of cable I need. I'll certainly look into the Thundermax. On the advice of my uncle I disconnected the battery to reset things, and it seems to have done the trick for now. I wish BDM was holding my hand, but they seem to not want to deal with it. I really do appreciate taking the time to respond.

Neil,
Been doing some research and now I have more questions. Any chance you could PM me with a phone number so I could discuss what I've found out, and see how I go about installing a Thundermax?

I had a raw wire, he did'nt tell me what wire it was.Check the main power wire coming off the battery that goes to the EHC.Make sure it is not lose or corroded in the eye connector attached to the battery.Hope this helps.
