help....dumb question

I disconnected my battery last fall. When I reconnected it this spring it won't start. I get a snap/pop sound?????

if you didn't keep the battery on a tender over the winter, it is most likely to be low. it has got to be at least 12.8 volts and holding to turn over the big inch.
