Help! Advice needed!

Ok, I was having a pretty decent day. Rode my 09 Wolf for about 2hrs. mostly on open road. I thought that it was running a bit rough for about 2or3 minutes before I hit traffic. But it could have been my over active imagination. So, I get home and shut er down. Tried to restart about 10 minutes later. Wouldn't turn over until the 3rd time and when it did the starter sounded like a ton of brick hitting the pavement. Then some sputtering, funky smell, and then loss of power. It would have died if it hadn't shut er down. It had been on the tender when sitting. I checked the fluids. Checked all the lines. And even the gas cap to make sure it was vented. It was all good. The wolf has 1100 mile so it not even broke in yet. I've looked through the foram for answers. Nothing matches. Help!!!! Has anyone had a similar problem? This gonna drive me crazy! Thanks for your help in advance.

not sure on that fuel injected x wedge.. is the starter not working properly? gringing? or does it just not run righ after it started? I'd make sure the starter is tight & not lose..

It is the fuel injected X wedge. The starter never made any noise until now. And it always run great. But I'll check the starter and go from there! Thanks.

Stock battery? What is your battery voltage? Is it or was it turning over after the 3 x try you mention? Don't assume your battery is worth a shit just because its a relatively new bike. My wife's Coyote battery was no good from the dealer with 40 miles on the bike.
Please try to describe what it is doing now, better...give us a play by play text visual. Starter ton of bricks just fogs the imagination of what you are experiencing.

Sorry, about the description. When it started the 3rd time. It made a loud slamming noise a second before it turned over. Ran well for about 2 minutes. Then started to die. Would not turn over after that. I still had power. I just checked the starter. It seems to be ok. It is a stock battery. I haven't checked the voltage, but will get on it. I believe that it is still under warrenty. Just hoping I wouldn't have to take it in.

Loud slamming noise before starting could be just the starter engaging, could be an issue, but probably not really....I'm guessing some would describe that hearing my bikes engage to fire up. I'd park that issue for now.
Next, it started dying....assume you have fuel and its on of course and you mentioned checked for venting - cool....
It died and won't turn over yet you still have pwr...assume you mean your lights are on. That doesn't mean you have the pwr necessary to turn that monster over.
Can you check battery voltage with voltmeter? Looks like you have plenty of bikes...any of there batteries work to temporarily swap out and re-check condition change?
If you get it started, check voltage while it is running....ie is your bike charging system working right.

Is there oil in the oil tank and to correct level.

You should have about 12.8v on the battery, not running and off chargrer 1 hour.

Warranty ASAP. Smells? starter or wires etc..

Battery condition?

Ok, I'm gonna do a battery swap, then check the voltage while it's running. I have been putting it on a tender when I'm not riding. But I'm hoping it's just the battery. Thanks!

You might want to try to reset the computer when it is running rough. With the key on try to toggle the run stop switch, turn the key back off and then turn it back on and hit run and start. This corrects it on my Wolf. It did this when I first got it , but has cleared up and now I have 13,000 miles on it

Do the battery thing and check the voltage with engine off and with engine running. Running you should get 13 - 14 volts. Not real familiar with the FI bikes or the xwedge but do the thing fmschatz above suggested. I do think there is some kind of reset when out of fuel or dead battery. Let us know whats going on.

You guys were right on when you suspected a bad battery. And I had foiled plugs. With a new battery and plugs I'm happy to report the dog is back on the road and running great!!! Thanks for all the info and support!

Great gald it was simple and you are back on the road. The electrical on these bikes can be a little fickle sometimes. Did you check the voltage at the battery with the bike running to be sure its charge properly?

Make sure your battery tender or whatever brand you are using goes into float mode as it should and doesn't stay in charge mode. My two new Battery Tender Jr. chargers won't work correctly on my new Interstate battery so I use my BETTER other brand which correctly operates.

Yes, I checked the voltage will running. Everything is good. I have to get a better tender. It does not go into float mode for some reason. I dropped a new Interstate battery in last night. So I'm hoping it was just these minor things. I tend to over react when there is something wrong with my bikes. Stupid I know!!! And thanks again for the help.
