Someone please help got a 08 ridgeback installed an HID light on it and all went wrong. The Hid light started to strobe then my speedo started to blink as well as my signal lights. Removed the Hid all worked fine. A few days later my starter went out got that rebuilt. It worked fine for about 2 days or so then my starter would have trouble turing my bike over. So i bought a new battery same problem. This morning tryed to turn it on but agien my speedo flashed as well as my signal lights. I keeped on trying now my bike has no life nothing turns on. The nearest big dog dealer is 300 pluse mlies. I live in Brownsville Tx. Any one have an idea. is it my ech? what next:(

Make sure your battery is fully charged.
Then do a SEARCH and you will most likely find a thread with your exact symptoms and ways to narrow down the issue. The ehc gets blamed a lot and generally it is something minor.

As he said. My 08 Ridgeback lost its voltage regultor on a ride, had to push start and got where I needed to be. Don't jump the bike with a car or anything. Get a new Batt ( A Harley AGM is fine) make sure its fully charged and not just off the shelf. Start the bike and check voltage at the batt you should be getting at least 14.2 volts back from the regulator. If not check the regulator and stator. One of them is most likely your problem and a easy fix.

You noted that you have already installed a new battery. It could have a bad cell in it even though it is brand new-as I had that to happen once on mine. Be sure to check that new battery thoroughly as well when you are going through your checklist.

Sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere. Check your battery terminal and ensure it's tight and all wire ends are flush against each other (You may need to fan them out for flushness). Next check your ignition wires and make sure they are tight. Wiggle your key in the ignitiion switch a little and see if anything changes. Also check your wires at the starter, make sure they are tight. Also I was reading your first post! You mentioned you installed a HID light. Was it the whole kit or just a bulb? You might want to disconnect the bulb and see if the scoot still acts up! We've had members that have installed the HID kits and their scoots reacted in negative ways! Just saying...

Forgot one more thing! Disconnect your battery and wait a few minutes to let your EHC reset, then hook your battery back up making sure the connections are tight and asured... :2thumbs:

Split, I don't think the breaker would come into play in this instance, but would be good to check. The main player is he installed the HID on his scoot and that's when all went to hell in a hand basket sort to speak! I believe his EHC noticed the HID addition and the unusual draw and didn't take kindly to this addition and is tripping! He should disconnect his battery and let the EHC re-set and then connect the battery back up and try it again. If he gets power back again then we know it's the HID that's caused this scenario. In this case I would rip the HID out and go with the normal H-4 bulb and be done with that non-sense.

In this case my suggestion would be disconnect that HID, disconnect the battery and let the EHC reset (Leave battery disconnected a few minutes) reconnect the battery and turn on the ignition. Note you’ll have fault lights on your EHC because the bulb is disconnected, but this is normal and shouldn’t cause you to lose power. That’s a quick check for you! Reason I suggest you disconnect the HID is to save your EHC from going into protect mode and maybe causing more harm or the possibility of frying your EHC…

Under the seat. Should have a wire from the batteryt leading to it. Its to prevent the voltage regutor from over feading the battery. Its part of the charging system. Really shouldn't have anything to do woth the bike not starting if the battery is good.

Well some of the switches have gone bad before. You might wan to check the switch. Also if you had the batt disconected make sure you put all the wires back.

All of the above. But I would check that Ignition switch or the connectors going to it first. If the switch is good then the HID may have fucked up your EHC. I had the a similar experience with installing a Skull headlight. The low beam was good, the high beam the lights would flash so I stayed on low bean till I got home, no telling how long they had been flashing since I was out riding all day. Anyway, I reinstalled the stock headlight and it worked good. So being a dumb shit I installed the Skull headlight again, and screwed with it till I had no power. I took the Skull off again and put the stock headlight back on, still now power. Installed my spare EHC and back on the road. I later found out that the high beam on the skull was to much for the circuit, as it had two 50 Watt bulb and the circuit only supports 60. I put two 30 watt eyeballs or lights in the eyeballs and wa la it worked and then the mount broke so I took the fucking thing off and put in on my wife's bilke  It a Harley and it works with or 30 or 50 watt light bulbs. Head to get a new mount for it but the skill lives on.

I am not trying to say its you EHC, but it could be.

Carlos :whoop:
