Headlight's Loose

*hope this is the right place*

I've got an 08 Pitbull that just will not keep the headlight tightened down and in place. It seems like the inner ring that goes on after the light is just a little too small because if you press too hard, it'll actually skip a thread or two and become extremly hard to remove.

I tightened it all down and it was good for two days, now it's loose again. Anyone else run into an issue like this?

No, it's there... it goes to the "beauty ring" that screws in after this small ring.

*How my headlight assembly goes*: In goes a spacer ring which has a set screw, then the light, then the ring to tighten the light down, then the beauty ring.

I did notice there are 4 set screw holes... only 2 are being used right now. I assume though that's not it, because the headlight being loose was a noise I had heard while on a test drive and they took it apart and put it back together and he didn't put any other set screws in (I was watching to take notes).

I think omeone put that thing in there in the wrong order, or you are missing a rubber seal inside the bucket. It should be the spacer and the set screw which set screw should be out far enough to keep that ring from turning. Next you should have a rubber seal that goes between the light and that spacer ring, next you should have the threaded ring which should keep all that shit in place and then your beauty ring and the set screw to hold it in place. That is the way mine is and the extra one I have (which I just took apart to look) if that is not what you have, take it back to them (whoever they are) and ask them to fix it or replace it. I assume your dog is still under warranty :2thumbs:

K, so there IS supposed to be a gasket? Because before there was not, but when the tech was working on it, he came back with one, but it looked like something he cut up as it's not... well it doesn't look like a manufactured product for a 35K bike.

But even with that spacer in there, if I tighten the ring after the bulb, it feels like a screw with stripped out threads in that it'll pop back out a thread and tighten down more again till it pops off, so I just tighten it down just enough.

If you are still under warranty take it back again and again and again :argue: until they get tired of you  and get you new bucket or fix it right :2thumbs:

lol that's what I had planned on doing... it's just that they're 45 minutes away and can't get off work during the week and they're so booked on Saturdays.

I wish I had more money.
Mine kept coming loose at one point. I took just a dab of silicone caulk and put it on one little spot in the threads. Not all the way around and that acted as a set. I haven't had any issues since. On the cheap at that.
