Headlight mount cracks - only found during teardown

Just for your information--checking your headlight mount from time to time may save a problem. Mine's been torqued to spec, but while tearing down the Dog today (new paint time among other things) I found this lovely;

Mine broke on Knotso and I's 1000 mile 48hr ride last year.

The bolt head broke (I replaced then with better bolts) on mine causing the bracket to break. My replacement I got from Vicki also wasn't chrome like the original one.

Did your bolt break also?

Nope, the bolts were fine, but I had some corrosion on one of the threads. I'm sending a ton of parts out for powder coating and the mount and bucket are on the list.

Would one of the newer bucket mount to the older style bikes without a lot of tinkering?

My mount held fine, but the bolt itself broke.

I had one of the ears on the bucket crack, and was told you cant buy just the mount, but had to buy the whole bucket.
