headlight harness service bulletin

what is the fix for the headlight bulletin (plug melting to the headlight)? i e- mailed big dog but all the lady would say is give me your vin and well see what needs to be done to your bike and you can bring it to a dealer to have it fixed.
but what i asked in the e-mail was if there was a part number for the fix. i would like to purchase it and fix it myself. im not drivin 4 hours 1 way to have a new headlight plug installed, im sure it would be cheaper to just buy the part.so why wont bdm sell me the fix?!!!!

They're probably trying to determine if its a mandatory item or under a warranty claim.

There are two Service Bulletins regarding headlight problems for the 05 models: SB1049 and SB1077.

Have BDM detail it out for you and I'll see if I can get the parts for you Stig

Go to Autozone, Pep Boys, Pep Girls ... Whatever your choice for auto stuff
And get a FEMALE REPLACEMENT H4 headlight harness. It will be like this:

Fifth picture down:
H4 connectors male and female.

You can buy it from them, comagination, they are fast shipping and accept paypal.

Or just get it from the auto parts store and save the shipping. BE SURE to solder the wires on the exsisting wires and shrinkwrap.
That is how the dealer did my recall.

Yep, whack it off and solder a new one on. I had two bikes done myself that way.

so... why are they melting? it just doesn't seem like putting a new plug on is solving the problem.
is it the fact that the wiring is so tiny,or the fact that there is 20 feet of wire spooled up behind the plug?..........

Don't mess with that spooled up wire. It serves a purpose. I forgot what it does but the manual says not to mess with it.

My manual does'nt say shit about that spooled wire. I noticed it when I put my HID light in. Glad I didn't mess with it.
